Department Process to Add a Minor (Current UCSB Students)
- You must have finished at least one Linguistics course (a passing grade must be recorded in GOLD!) before you can add a Linguistics Minor. If you are currently taking your first Linguistics course, please wait until your final grades are posted.
- Have at least one Linguistics course completed with a passing grade? Add the Linguistics minor by filling out the Intent to Minor for Linguistics Form here*.
- Need to drop? Email us at undergradadvisor@linguistics.ucsb.edu with your perm # and the Linguistics minor you are dropping.
- Have other questions? Please email the undergraduate advisor at undergradadvisor@linguistics.ucsb.edu with your perm number, which minor, and any questions you may have.
TESOL MINORS PLEASE READ: The TESOL minor requires students to have taken at least ONE of the core TESOL classes (LING 139, 140, or 141) to be eligible to add the minor. We will not add you if you have not passed one of the courses listed. To add LING 139, 140, or 141, students must join a manual waitlist to be issued an approval code during pass 2.
Department Process to Finalize a Minor
Once ALL grades for ALL Linguistics minor courses are been recorded on GOLD please fill out the form below. This does mean that you may need to submit this form after finals week - which is fine. Please make to complete this as it may otherwise delay your degree conferral. The form will be reviewed by the department automatically, so there's no need to reach out regarding its status.
The form will be rejected if the grade(s) for your last course in the minor have not yet been posted on your GOLD.
*Includes all the minors in the Linguistics Department.
